Maintaining quality while creating valuable relationships

Author: Jose Plessman, CMC Network

“José, I feel like this is my way of making a difference in the world because most of us spend our lives working.”

If I’m working with a company, and I can work with that business owner to make sure that employees are paid correctly, they’re getting the feedback they need, they’re working in an environment free from harassment and discrimination, where they can be productive and enjoy what they do, then I feel like I’m making an impact.

And I’m making a living doing it, so it’s just a win-win.”

First off, I wanted to know more about the moment when Cristina Amyot, President at EnformHR and Pro Member at CMC Network, knew Human Resources Consulting was what she wanted to do. Those remarks answered that question in our call last week.

I’m José Plessman, Creative Writer & Marketing Director working with CMC Network, and I’m writing her story for this post. Currently, I have more than a year of experience as a content strategist and content creator working with globally known corporations; and I have been writing for as long as I can remember.

Truly, I was blessed to witness how much Cristina loves what she does and how enthusiastic she is when talking about her work. I am very fortunate to be here today to tell you all the stories she shared with me.

The Story Behind Her Name.

It has been 14 years since Cristina started her own business, and it has been an ever-growing passion for the small and medium-sized business market of entrepreneurs, with many experiences that demonstrate how these relationships became more than special.

She remembers needing to take some time off to deal with a family emergency, assigning a client another HR Business Partner on her team in the meantime. The client regularly contacted her during this time just to check in on how she was doing, provided updates to their executive team, and helped celebrate the positive outcome by hosting her and her family at a professional soccer game.  “They treated me like family, and that’s when it hit home, how appreciated we are for the work we’re doing.”

Cristina has not only had remarkable personal experiences like this one with her clients but is also learning constantly about the challenges they face every day from a business point of view, and she can see – and often advise – to set them on the best path from a Human Resources standpoint. “I feel like I’m getting part of my Master’s Degree all over again every time I’m with these businesses because everybody has a little bit of a different approach to doing things. I’m learning and growing every day”.

More recently, she has been helping her clients through this strange and challenging time we are all trying to manage: a global pandemic, which still must ensure a safe workplace for their employees while constantly reinventing their procedures to preserve their workforce as well as maintaining the integrity of their companies.

In all these circumstances, she explains, “It’s very much a collaborative effort. So when we work with a company, we can be as hands-on and involved or as hands-off as they want. So with the companies that we get really embedded in, we become part of the team as if we’re their in-house HR.”
